The façade of the Church of the Capuchins has been depicted on the 5 euro cent coin of San Marino since 2017. The church, dating back to the 16th century, is dedicated to Saint Quirinus, in memory of the failed attempt to occupy the Republic by Fabiano da Monte San Savino on June 4, 1543.
The façade features a graceful portico, beneath which, in 1849, Garibaldi, who had taken refuge in San Marino to escape the Austrian army, disbanded his troops. In the forecourt stands a column with a shrine containing a statue of Saint Francis giving a blessing, both dating from the early 20th century.
Adjoining the church is the Capuchin Convent, with a cloister housing a characteristic well. Behind the church stands the Capuchin prison, still in use today.
