I was wondering I like to know the precious metal weight of my coins such as ASW or AGW and I know it can be figured out with a little math but many other pages and even Krause will include this for the coins. I figured it wouldn’t be hard to add it to the page of each coin since we already have the weight fineness and Precious metal value. I just feel it will add just a little more information to each page and will help many people when they are trying to figure it out without having to look elsewhere or get a calculator out. Is this something we could add please.
In numista you have the coin's weight, which is the only thing of real of importance and which you can measure yourself. It's also used to determine (one of the factors) if a coin might be counterfeight.
If you really want to figure out how much silver or any any other precious metal the coin has, you take the WEIGHT of YOUR coin and do the necessesary calculation. Don't forget that the permille in Numista is ONLY for a brand new coin, since it's based on the producer's data.
Numista already gives bullion value for people who invest in metals instead of collecting coins, if coin has known weight and fineness value. If fineness is unknown, you are likely looking at old coin that is not good choice of handing it to smelters.
