hello, im new to the numista community so im still learning about this world!
i got this coin a long time ago, and reserching online i found some preety similar coins from which i ll copy the description: "carthage, zeugitana, sardinian mint, ca 241-238 BC. wreathed head of tanit left / three grain ears with crescent and dot above".
but only on that (wildwinds.com) page i found this info and nowhere else, so i would like your confirmation since there are also some very simillar yet different coins.
its around 15mm in diameter, made of copper, and i dont know the wight but its very light.
there are no inscriptions on it also so i do not know how much it was worth when it was in circullation and i would really like that info.
also i could not find it in the numista catalogue.
i ll drop in 4 photos, 2 are as they normally look, and the last 2 are after some really gentle cleaning.
anyways thank you all so much.
Hello,

I am a bit confused by the description. Carthage (the city) was in Zeugitana, a region in North Africa. Sardinia was not in Zeugitana.

These coins are of particularly poor quality because they were issued during the Libyan revolt (241-238 BC). This was a revolt of the mercenaries used by Carthage in the First Punic War (264-241 BC). The mercenaries were joined by some Libyan settlement rebelling against the Punic rule. The rebels in Africa were defeated, but in Sardinia, Rome took advantage of the situation and occupied the island. This led to the Second Punic War from 218 BC.

We have some coins from this period here:

I am not convinced your coin is authentic. What is the weight of your coin?

hey sorry it took me so long to reply to you, i managed to have a really busy weekend :(
you are right that description is a bit weird, i didnt realice that, but anyways perhaps the person that wrote that description wasnt really convinced about the origin of the coin.
i weigthed and messured the coin, its 2,2gr and 18,32 mm long, also i made a mistake its not made out of copper, but out of bronze. all of it lines up really good with the descrption of this coin that you gave me the link (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces234687.html)
also why do you think it may be a fake? i was talking to the person that gifted it to me and assured me it was real, which i believe since she got it from italy from someone who collected and traded antiques; but we may all be wrong lol
Hello
Any chance you can post two-three images of the edge?
