I’ve seen large amounts of spam on Numista lately, which I think needs to stop. Moneytane recently suggested adding a new team of moderators to deal with this problem, but I (and many others) think that’s a stretch too far. Rather than doing that, I suggest we nip the problem in the bud. Can we have an existing moderator review new account creations and read the bios to stop the creation of spam accounts? This would be quite easy, as most spam accounts have a company linked in their bio with a little sales pitch to accompany it. A lot of the spam I’ve seen is just copy-pasted ads for other companies/websites, but sometimes it does become harmful and downright illegal. A few months ago someone was trying to sell counterfeit cash and forged identity papers on the ‘free discussion’ boards. It would be far easier to do this than to implement a new moderating team on the forums, and it would keep the website free for new and inexperienced collectors to learn from their mistakes.
There is a "Report the message to moderators" button at the upper right corner of each post. As soon as I see something like you are mentioning, I click the button and rapport the post and these posts are usually gone very very quickly. It's much faster done than a moderator reading every post and checking all new accounts.
I do that too, but it’s better to nip the problem at the bud and report anything that gets through. It’s certainly less invasive than what Moneytane proposed a few days ago...
I actually don't agree as I have seen spam only once and reported it and it was gone lightning quick. The people here are very efficient.

I have given up on suggesting moderators and the like, mainly as I was annoyed over a raft of mostly non collectors and semi illiterate people starting threads showing counterfeits and outright junk (Play money and fantasy issues). I complained and got torn apart by the snowflake squad, called arrogant and my own poor typing skills were bought into question.

You will see my suggestion went down like the Hindentanic and is 19 downvotes to 10 upvotes and will probably drop further and further.

Best for me to stick to showing off Halfcrowns, Florins and upgraded NZ silver coins from 1943 :8D
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
