OK - I am from India and my experience so far has been excellent and problem-free. All of my packages have reached successfully and I have received all successfully. Although time is sometimes a problem. One parcel took 10 days and another took 36 days

It's hit and miss - I've sent 3 packages all three got there - 1 of them without contents
I've received more than 30 packages from India - only one went missing
Suppose it's just how it's posted. I've had 3 coins fail to get to me all in "damaged" envelopes but none had any card backing or were in jiffy bags ! I always send in a jiffy bag with the coin cut into some card then another piece over the top lol !

I bought some really nice billon Princely States coins from a seller in India. They took over a month to arrive and the Indian version of eBay defaults to some weirdo payment system... Star Pay I think. I tried to open an account so I could transfer money but they don't recognize US routing codes!
Fortunately the seller opened a PayPal account. He was the absolute epitome of politeness and patience and I would have no hesitation in buying from him again.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.

Don't be all down on India, its a problem for anywhere. I shipped $60 in coins to France, t could have gotten nabbed in the US or France.
I guess its one of the down sides to swapping valuable things, eventually it will happen.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

I agree - I lost about $10 worth of coins I sent to France by unregistered mail - it's not isolated to any one country
I have received 3 empty letters before in the UK which were internal letters, suppose it's luck of the draw of who processes your mail, it's also down to the packaging. I always send with cardboard and coins secured down so they don't clink and sound like coins and the card is to lessen the feel of coins ha !

Yes, I learned this on my $60 parcel, very expensive lesson, pack very careful! I also wrap mine in tinfoil so x ray cant see the coins!

Now that raises an interesting question.... if the TSA goon squad can't xray a parcel because it has a layer of foil over the coins do they tear it open to search for rocket launchers? I've always been of the view that it's better not to attract the attention of these wanna be Gestapo types. It's a sad reflection of the times in which we live that such measures are needed to send a few collectors coins from one address to another.
