Hi,
we seem to have a lot of members with 0 coins from 0 countries in their collection. They have 0 coins to exchange too. I think we should educate such members how to enter their coins. Effectiveness of the site would improve when we have more number of active members.

Good point.

Maybe you could help write a Numisdoc on this topic?

This already underway!
Hello,

I have noticed that as well, I think most of them registered just to ask a question in the forum for a coin that they found, most probably its value...and than never came back here...

It would be useful maybe just to grant such "visitor" permission to ask questions in forum without registering?

Hey everyone,
As a member with almost zero coins from zero countries I can tell you that the reason I don't post my coins is because I am new to coin collecting and I have absolutely no idea about selecting a grade for coins. I have only realized an interest in coins over the last few months as I have been acquiring bags of them for a summer science camp for kids. After making up dozens of bags to hand out I decided to go through a couple and, surprisingly, I got hooked. I have built my collection up to a couple of hundred unique coins, but every time I want to record a coin I am not sure about what to put for the grade. I actually joined numista some I could check it out for the kids to keep track of everything that they found, but I switched to pad a pen and a spreadsheet because of the grading. I may just start recording them with the lowest grade.

I do love the site and visit it regularly, just with nothing to show for it.

When in doubt, assume the worst grade.  Don't let uncertainty stop you from adding your coins here.
Hello Freile,

have a look at this grading guide, it is simple and illustrated, you will have fund adding the coins and grading them yourselves!

Good call. I think I will add some coins today and then go back through and try to grade them. Probably nothing terribly interesting to most people but they are the coins I like. Thanks guys.

OR someone like this - I wonder why they did so many?
I joined at the beginning of July and already entered 1600+ coins grading them myself and trying to be honest since I'm doing it to myself. I still have about 400 more to enter. At the end of the day it is how you value the coin to yourself. Different story when you want to swap though.

I even created one coin page already.  :D

I didn't have any problems entering my coins. Not sure if that's because I collect coins for more than 30 years or because I work with computers every day for more than 20 years.  0:)
friends,
i am happy that many of you are concerned with this question. what we all like is more number of active members with more and better coins to swap.
