永樂通寳 classification question: Japanese Copy? [opgelost]

6 berichten • 188 keer bekeken
Hello fellow users of Numista,
I recently bought this coin and was wondering if it was what I think it is. I believe this to be an Eiraku Tsuho(https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces221649.html) (I’m thinking Hartill #3.10) due to the coin’s large characters, broad rim, and differences in calligraphy. I can’t see this as a Vietnamese or Indonesian copy with the coin’s copper appearance and relatively good craftsmanship. I would appreciate any second opinion.

Thank you :)

Hi konstantin1968,
Unfortunately I don’t have the coin in my possession yet but once I get it, I will be sure to give those. Thanks for your help :)
Hello

the color of the brass alloy is really darker in Japan
and caracters are really thin and delicate
not sure it is an eiraku tsuho

That makes sense. Might be a Vietnamese or Javanese copy, so I'll have to do my research (a fake at worst, but it's no big loss).
Thank you for your help, gros. :)
