7 berichten • 174 keer bekeken
These coins have been released by the Royal Australian Mint today. They are celebrating 100 Years of the Royal Australian Air force (RAAF). I have already added them to Numista. When I get actual coins I will update the images.

They are available in a four coin set with "C" Mintmark, [ B] , [M] & [S] Privymarks for AU$30.

You can also mint your own "C" Mintmarked coin at the visitor press in the public gallery of the RAM in Canberra for AU$3.

I understand the SE5 and the F35 on the coin, old and new. Can any Aussie aviation buffs explain the significance of the P3? Is it the significance of "maritime" aviation due to being an island nation?
All of these "not circulating"?

No - They are not circulating coins. They are issued in a four coin set with one coin having a "C" (Canberra) Mintmark and the other three having Privymarks, one for Brisbane, one for Melbourne and one for Sydney.

You can also get a "C" mintmarked one if you visit the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra and put $3 in the Gallery Press. It is issued with a coincard/folder.

This is a regular Australian Mint promotion. Every year since 2010 They have released a similar Four coin set at the beginning of the year. With the same coin available from the Gallery press at the mint.

These are the Themes that the Annual Four Coin Set has been released with since 2010 ...

If you click on the links you will see images of each of the Four Coin Sets.

Further to the above releases the RAM also visited various places around Australia and the coins were available with various Counterstamps. The 2011 Rams Head Dollar had 13 different Mintmarks, Privymarks & Counterstamps.

Collecting Australian One Dollar coins is a mission if you want to get them all. There are around 510 currently if you want them all.

In addition to my other reply .... You can actually find these themed coins in circulation very occasionally. I have found a few of the older years ones myself.

Children have been known to obtain one of the "C" Mintmarked $1 coins at the Mint on the Gallery Press for $3, (It used to be $2) and then walk straight over to the Cafe/Food shop at the mint and spend them at face value. Go figure?

I have updated the coin page with pics of the actual coin now instead of drawings.
