Acient Greek where to look? [opgelost]

7 berichten • 91 keer bekeken
Have a nice weekend.
Please, give me an advice.
Two small bronze coins from the Greek script -I don't know where to look for them or it's probably a Roman province.( and they are thick-One character is a man the other a woman)
they are probably from the same area so they are together and I don't want to throw them away.

1, 2,37 g , 12,66 mm , thickness: 2,8 mm, bronze?

2, 2,45 g , 14,13 mm , thickness: 2,9 mm , bronze?

If anyone knows?

I think I can see an eagle facing left and a figure facing right on the second coin. In my opinion it's most likely ancient Egypt, Ptolemaic period, or Seleucid empire although it could also be Roman provincial from those provinces. Maybe someone can help more.

Have a nice day to the Adriatic,, cro 321,, , Thanks a lot.
Somehow I guess only for some I do not know where to start , thanks a lot I will narrow the direction of the search.
You know, I like one in a pile in the auction, so I take it all, but I don't want to throw away the rest, so I'm trying to find at least where to put it.
I'm already preparing a riddle about Rome and I'll put it here, for another thread, thanks.

the first time i found a match so you were exact -so many thanks. only there will be many puzzles regarding weight and size -however, I already have direction and orientation. ( And I also saw the busty beauty there and it would be a shame for the handy girl)
and I don't have to throw it at a pile of unidentified:

You're right, it's that one. I also found an example on wildwinds, it's AE14 and matches yours in size and most likely weight. Search for SC 983 here: https://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/seleucia/antiochos_III/t.html

Explanation on what AE means: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/dougsmith/acmsize.html

Absolutely sure , apology for gender inaccuracy , sometimes it's just confusing and actually it doesn't matter that I think he had twins.

So thanks for the help, it's not so much a coin to dispose of -it is an honest circulation coin and should certainly serve the people.
thanks Ivan
