Thanks Elvis123. My wife has family from Scarborough who are arriving in 2 weeks time. I'll try and convince her to ask them if they're able to bring a set or 2 over. $20 is more than reasonable I reckon.
As a youngster, I like to find NZ pre-decimal and foreign coins that had made It's way into circulated coinage.
The thought of holding a object of the past with it's hidden history really intrigued me as a youngster...and still does.
This set consists of 4 Brilliant Uncirculated coins that were produced for circulation at the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Since 2011, all those sets have been taken from the same batches of coins that get put in mint rolls for circulation. Thousands of those coins tumble down the assembly lines together. Pre-2011, the sets used to be "choice" coins called "proof-like" and that is why they were called "proof-like" sets. Now, all the coins in these sets are just regular BU coins that were diverted from rolls to this type of mint packaging. If you want 4 of these coins, you can usually buy them for double face value. This set of 4 coins (face value = $5.00) and costs $19.95 plus 13% taxes for a total $22.55 per set of 4 coins. Many collectors of "proof-like" sets have been complaining about the quality of the coins issued in those sets in 2011 and 2012.
