Can someone help with 2nd note RUSSIA 268 a with prefix and serial number for 1997 xM etc- i know it is possible to have 1997 on it and have been printed in another year as described on NUMISTA
but this does not fit anywhere

I'm not sure if I understand the question. But if it's about the year, I think that if it doesn't have the small vertical date to the left of the bridge, then the year is 1997.

Both have a modification date to the left. I don't know what you mean with "prefix and serial number for 1997". The prefixes of small/small, small/big, big/small, big/big isn't fixed to the year of issue.

This is 2004 issue (see the vertical text on front next to the value and under the serial number). Also, FYI, the one with xM serial number was issued before the one with XK serial number. As regards your question, I'm not sure if I understand you.

BTW, I like the printed tag on the right. I use similar tags. What does "202130" stand for?
