I am wondering about something. Many referees have allowed the consolidation of P-types on a single page. For example there are 6 different P-types on one page for Honduras 1 Lempira. My question is this; Is the banknote type number accurate on the dashboard if you have all 6 types or do all 6 types get reduced to one type only? If referees are insistent on consolidating P-types on one page I hope that the number of types is accurate on the dashboard.
1 page = 1 type
Doesn't matter if some reference considers the items in the page a subtype or a collection of main types.
How would it even be possible to differentiate?

Unless Numista as a community with Xaviers blessing came up with its very own numbering system then this would be my biggest argument for splitting all of the pages that have multiple P-types. I am rather shocked that as a website that was originally created for type collectors that having combined pages even exists here. As a dedicated variety (date, signature and prefix) collector having separate pages makes way more sense and is more valuable for informational purposes. In some areas colnect is still doing better than Numista. I would like to see Numista be the best in every category.
The problem with Krause/Pick banknote types is that they are often distinguished by very tiny differences.
So you have pages with essentially the same picture (sometime it is of the same type out of mistake because they are so similar).
Personally I hate to play find the difference with two taps open rapidly switching between them, hoping the pictures are of good quality and not of the same type.
Because often the banknote pages are severely lacking and of no help to explain the difference so I don't mind the combining of types.
If the pages are separated they have to be excellent in explaining the right place for your note, not just half empty entries with two pictures.
Fellow referees and friends are on both sides of this issue. I see logic on both sides. No one will be really pleased until standards and expectations are codified, as has been recently done for the coin side of things.
Just because Pick did it, numista should do the same seems to be popular, as is the view that we should. damn everything Krause did and do it different.
I will always advocate more type pages and not less.
I definately think that when a printer changes, color changes, design changes, then we should have a different page. But not everyone agrees...and it isn't settled...until it is, the comments that can appear on dateline are a great place to acknowledge the different types.
As a master referee, at this time it is not time worth do try and standardize the entries just yet, while criteria isn't even agreed upon. I do appreciate it as much as the next collector when I see that a ref has standardized the listings within the country they are responsible for. It looks very nice.
We will get there. The banknote side of things is still relatively young.
