Year line request:

Canada $1 1973 page for reference

Requesting addition of year line for serial numbers starting with prefix EAJ, signatures Lawson and Bouey, P#85b. I own this note, and an example of one with this serial may be found here on banknoteworld.com in the photo and documented on other sources.

Year list is locked, cannot request the edit directly.

Thanks!
Hello!

Your note would be listed under P#85a(2), and is listed as BC-46a-i in the Charlton catalogue (Lawson-Bouey with a three-letter prefix, with an engraved back). P#85b would be incorrect (as far as I know), as prefixes EAA-EAJ and EAK to a certain point are also engraved, not lithographed. While there is not the need to add a line for this particular prefix, it should be at least divided into either two- or three-letter prefixes, engraved (all two-letter notes, prefixes AAA-AAZ, ACA-ACZ, AFA-AFE, AFF up to 3799999, EAA-EAJ and EAK up to 1199999) and lithographed notes, or both.

The reason that prefixes EAA-EAJ and some of EAK are also engraved is because there were two companies that printed Canadian notes. For three letter prefixes, one company used prefixes starting in A, B and C, and the other company used E, F, G and H. Both companies printed notes at the same time, so there are both engraved and lithographed notes from both companies.

Hope this helps!
