Underweight 100 Kurus

Hello, some time ago I purchased this coin which was grossly misidentified by the seller. It arrived larger than it should have been for a 50 Kurus piece, and the listed weight was heavier than a 50; but lighter than what it appears to be, a 100 Kurus. Everything written about the coin from year to sultan to type was incorrect, except for the measured weight (to the seller's fairness, was provided) and claim that it is 'gold plated'.

It has a diameter of 22mm and a reeded edge, and it appears identical to the photos here, but is only 4.4 grams.

Pictured is the coin I own, a regnal year 9 Mehmed V with el-Ghazi.

The coin is yellower than these photos, taken under a macro lens.

I was willing to take the risk since it was under melt value for even the 50 piece. I'd like to know more about it.
Perhaps it is one of the decorative replicas that CassTaylor describes in this forum topic.

Thanks, Nathan
Nice looking coin.
I have been in numismatics some decades. I offer some hard learned lessons.
Underweight is the kiss of death.
Everything valuable has a doppleganger - counterfeit - call it what you will - more than one - old and new -
which you may find oftener than something genuine, if it is both gold and beautiful.
welcome to Numista. :*

Very well said. Numista and ucoin have been my go-to identification sites for a long time since I got into the hobby, I'm glad to now be a part of it.
