Copy of an Alexander the Great Drachm? [opgelost]

Hi again,

This coin looks extremely suspicious to me. It was sold as an Alexander the Great Drachm, but is it a copy or something else altogether?

Weight c.4g
Diameter 1.9cm

Thanks
HelloWhy does it look suspicious?
Hi,
To me the edge looks unusually smooth & the sound it makes too.

I could be wrong, hence why I added it here.

Thanks
Have a nice day on the island.

I have no problem for me it is natural,, McChris,, - And I don't know what it might remind you of another coin . And what? What else?
Yes, there is still a period imitation of these coins by the Celtic tribes in Central Europe -they are a little less graphically elaborate.
Especially if you want a better assessment, put the coin on a white background -the surface behind the coin color affects the assessment of the patina and changes it overall.

Is this any better?

I will add that the two faces are the same way up.
I understand you're worried, but I don't know what you're looking for.

there is no seam from the metal casting, there is a disturbance of the metal for a long time -There are pores that which is natural.
,, So many of these coins were minted in their time that even today some mints would be ashamed of their poor production efficiency.,,

However, assume that the coin has been cleaned and preserved 10 times already, because it is still circulating in the collections.
It is necessary to look for Chinese or even European workshops with counterfeits on what counterfeits look like, and only then can one look for a connection.

Thank you, that's really informative & very reassuring. I think the main issue for me now is that both sides of the coin are orientated the same way round, though I know that's no real guide as it was pretty random at the time.

Thanks
