Hi all;

I buy this coin with other real and fake coins.

Please help me to identify it.

Diameter ; 20-21 mm
Weight : 5,7 grams

Thank you
This looks like a copper massa from the Chola kingdom in Sri Lanka and southern India about 900-1300 AD. These are also called "octopus man" coins because of the appearance of the king in his robe.

There are articles available at

It appears from the writing that your coin is from Sahasa Malla, 1200-1202 AD. There's an example at

Please recheck your weight. These coins normally weigh about 4.1 to 4.4 grams.

In future ID requests clearer photos will help.
Thank you Seeker55

Great job thanks.

I add more picture.

Identification for me it is solved but I didn't know it is not a modern fake , original or ancien fake. Maybe you advise.

I re-check the weight - 5,6 grams. For me the ancien coins can have the diferent weights.

Yes, there was considerable variation in coin weights in medieval India, though this is a rather large deviation. While very interesting to have in a collection, this is a relatively common type of coin, not highly valuable, and I'm not aware of fakes in this area. So my guess is that it is probably genuine.

The weight is high, the writing is not exactly correct (could be due to wear and/or different die engravers), and the coin is rounder than expected for a medieval hand-struck coin, but many "octopus coins" are relatively round. All together these factors raise some suspicion, but overall they do not convince me it is a fake.
Great analysis.
It one particular case when even with all we know we can't be sure it is genuite or not.

Thanks, I really appreciate your help.

Best regards.
