Unidentifiable cristoforo colombo token/medal

I got this in a coin collection a while back and have never been able to identify where its from or when it was made. It is either made of copper or bronze. The front say cristoforo colombo and the back says 12 ottobre 1492. The edges are either dented all over or hammered. Diameter is 32mm. Im not sure of the weight.
