This German 25 pfennig notgeld is not listed with the other Eschwege coins (5 and 10 Pfennig - Eschwege - City of Eschwege) in the Numista catalog. It has no date.
The coin's provenance is from a typical source for a new-to-coin-collecting person like me, eBay. I paid $7.85 for this coin. The seller specializes in world coins and miscellaneous memorabilia... baseball trading cards, etc.
The coin looks like this:
Obverse:
Reverse:
22.0 mm wide
1 mm thick
Weighs 2 grams
Zinc
Condition: EF - UNC.
Any further information regarding this notgeld, like F# and number of coins minted, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Did you check the diameter from corner to the opposite corner or from a straight side to the opposite straight side? That might be the difference between your measurement of 22 mm. and the 24.3 mm in Funck.
I measured from flat side to flat. Measuring now from a pointed corner directly across to the opposite corner, I get 24 mm. (My micrometer is a "vintage," manual tool. Getting a number down to tenths of a millimeter is tough. However, I've got a better micrometer on the way.)
Okay, problem solved, 24 mm. and 24.3 mm. is comparable, 22 mm. and 24.3 mm. wasn't.
By the way, very nice coin, especially for a zinc coin, because those German notgeld coins are often not in the best condition.
My collection of notgeld is about 220 pieces; paper cardboard, aluminum/magnesium, and all the other typical metals. Zinc is by far the worst to deal with. Thanks for the compliment.
