hello dears, please help to identify a type of this thaler. ( mint, period.. type)
thanks
David
"In the years 1751–2000, approximately 389 million copies of this coin were minted. It was produced primarily in the mints of the Habsburg Empire (then Austro-Hungary): Brussels, Hall in Tirol, Günzburg, Karlsburg, Kremnica (Kremnitz), Milan, Prague, Utrecht and in Vienna (after the closure of the mint in Günzburg in 1805); later also abroad: in Birmingham, Mumbai, London, Paris, Rome, Venice. Until October 31, 1858, it was legal tender in the Empire; Thanks to the imperial patent (decree) of 1757 and the current regulations of the Republic of Austria, it has so far been produced in Vienna by Münze Österreich AG as a trade and souvenir coin. Apart from Austria, Maria Theresa's thaler was produced for the longest time in Great Britain, where in February 1962 a formal consent was granted to discontinue this production as a result of diplomatic efforts by Austria."

It is probably impossible to identify the mint. All thalers are similar or the same. I distinguish between old and new.
Thanks, but I read that its possible to identify some mints by design detail, for example, by eagle`s tail. or wings..
at least, is it possible to say - is it 19th century thaler or 20?
thanks
D

While what you wrote is correct identifying variants is quite possible and there is a large value difference between the common and rare ones so writing them all off as "the same" is a mistake. There are collectors that exclusively collect Maria Theresa thaler variants.

I'm not an expert on these coins, just an enthusiast and as far as I can tell this is Leypold 2 struck in Italy between 1815 and 1830. There are a few variants witnin Leypold 2 (Hafner 36a,b, 37a-b, 38) so I suggest check out: http://www.theresia.name/en/svariants.html and try to find yours. Nice coin! :)

So cute site ! thank You, dear friends!
YOurs,
David
You are right. I was wrong that it was impossible to distinguish Maria's thaler, it was an uninteresting subject for me. And it turns out to be very interesting. cro321 is right, according to the website your thaler is a product from Italy 1815-30, characteristic central coat of arms and date but which mint?
Maybe you can help with mine who has been with me for a few years?
Yours is Leypold 4, the most common type. There is more than a dozen variants within Leypold 4 you can check out on the website: http://www.theresia.name/en/svariants.html
