James I Shilling type. [opgelost]

5 berichten • 114 keer bekeken
Hi,

I got this James I English shilling from a very reputable seller recently. It was advertised as being third coinage (1619-1624), but the obverse legend is that of the first coinage (1603-1604) - "ANG′.SCO′.FRA′.ET•HIB" rather than "MAG BRI FRA ET HIB".

Does anyone know if I am missing something - size & weight for both are nearly identical.

Thanks

The point is you got an English coin

and you were to get a coin of the kingdom of Scotland?

No. Both types are English.

The description (maybe just a simple mistake) said it was https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces52434.html
Everyone makes mistakes, perhaps they sent the wrong coin. Let them know and if you're both happy see if you can negotiate a small discount so they avoid the extra postage in returning this for the correct one.

It's the coin which was pictured when advertised, it's just the description which was wrong.

I really don't mind as it's a decent coin for a reasonable price.
