I recently picked a coin from a $1 bargain bin at a local show. It appears to be from either an Indian Princely State or an older sultanate from the Northern India/Pakistan/Afghanistan region.
Specs:
Material: Likely copper or bronze
Weight: 9.55g
Size: longer side 17-18mm, shorter side 16mm. 4-5mm thick.
Shape: Square-ish

Side 1 thoughts: The 3 lines coming from the right could be some variant of Devanagari script, if the coin was rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise? The topmost line looks like it could be a "र" character (r.) The 7-dot circle in the lower left hand side looks similar to some coins from the princely state of Sailana or Baroda, but the rest of the the coin doesn't really.
Side 2 thoughts: First and foremost, there seems to be a date! To me it looks like "۱۲۰۷" (1207) w/ Persian/Dari/Pashto or Arabic numbers. Off chance it could also be "۱۲۰۶" (1206) in Persian/Dari/Pashto numbers if the 6 is kinda poorly formed. Depending on whether It's P/D/P or Arabic, the Gregorian year could either be like 1828 or 1790, respectively. The writing is from some variety of Abjad of course. It's tough to tell whether the 3-4 dots towards the top are meant to be part of the top-left letter, or if they're separate like the 4 dots to the bottom left. Unsure what the large vertical line to the right is meant to be - looks too large in relation to the other letters to be an Alif - maybe it's meant to be a dagger or something?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, because I'm having no luck at all.
Thanks,
Caroline
