Any help on this coin would be appreciated! It was found in Afghanistan. Its about 27mm and weighs ~12.7g. I would guess that its made of bronze, but has more of a yellow color like brass. I think the lettering is "PITIV" and I was guessing Roman or Greek. and I initially thought it was a "sauntering eagle" but it could be a chicken or egret for all I know.
This is definitely not my area of expertise, but to me this does not appear to be a genuine ancient coin. The grainy surface and lack of detail appear to indicate it is cast rather than struck. Does the edge have a seam, file marks, or evidence of a casting sprue? It also seems to me there should be more writing, and the patina seems odd (possibly artificial?). But I could always be wrong. Hopefully some of our experts in ancient coins will chime in to offer more information.
It’s possible it could be a fake, it is a thicker coin. If it is a replica, I’d like to know of what coin it’s supposed to be. The color looks off to me personally. More brass than bronze.
