Hello,

Being unable to read Eastern Indian, I have been trying to attribute this silver Rupee by going photo to photo in the catalogs with no luck.

Any help with an attribution would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I can't read the text, but can read numbers. At the bottom of the first photo there's a date of AH 1063, which would put it during the reign of Shah Jahan. At first glance the writing doesn't look like a Mughal rupee to me, so maybe a princely state or an imitation of some kind. Sorry I can't tell more than that. We have several members who can read these coins and hopefully one will help out.

Excellent attribution, Parimal.
I now see that what I took to be a zero in the date is the very top tip of an eight, which is much lower than the rest of the date and mostly off the flan.
