Any ideas what this is worth please? Any help would be appreciated.
Hello and welcome to Numista!

It's not real. What's the edge look like?
I suspect it may look like the third picture here >
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115117063189
which yes is a different coin entirely, but shows how it was done.

Thanks for responding. I didn’t notice anything like that on first examination but I’ll get a pic and post it.

Got the pics
The chances the US mint would put both "heads" dies together are slim to none. The chances that if they did and some went out into circulation are also slim to none. The chances that if both happened and after 46 years only one has been discovered is again slim to none. The chances of all that happening is slim to none cubed. In short, it didn't happen. Also, your coin shows a lot of circulation damage on both sides so add to that the chances that somebody would have put it away a long time ago. It's a nice conversation piece but not authentic.
Hi williamof3 and welcome to the forum!

Could you please post a photo, showing both sides at once, so that we can compare the orientation of each side?
One method is to use a mirror.

Ok. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
I should see it again tomorrow and take that pic.
On ebay:

Here’s the another pic of the side. Will get a pic in the mirror tomorrow.
it could also be a magic coin where instead of putting the tails part with it they used another heads part
It is surely that - a work of art, not of the mint.

Citeer: "rsirian1"On ebay:

Notice the gap between the rim and the coin face? It's a nice conversation piece but not authentic.

Here’s some more pics. Look at it with a magnifying glass and couldn’t find where a coin was cut out.
it like i said could be a magic coin so if it is this trick should work. put it in a plastic glass and start jumbleing it around in the glass if it is a magic coin it should come apart with two sides seperate with another coin on the other sided of the part without the rim if not it is what risirian is saying
I said it was a "magic coin."
Citeer: "rsirian1"I said it was a "magic coin."
i mean a coin where you seem to merge two coins together kind of magic coin lol
On one side, the edge rim is significantly broader than on the other. To such an extent that the rim touches or even pushes over the top of the legend letters. That doesn't look normal to me.

My hypothesis: one half dollar was hollowed out and another was filed down, and then the filed down one was fitted into the hollow one. But if my hypothesis is true, then it is done very well and respect is due. Otherwise I'm just a silly dreamer.

Hollowed out like this, I mean:

(Picture 'borrowed' from ZacUK from another thread)

By the way, in the cited thread, ZacUK states that the strange sound of a coin in a bag of coins first drew his attention. If williamof3's coin is indeed doctored, one would expect the clink to be different from an original one. Weight deviation can also be expected, then.

That first picture is the fake side.
The second picture is genuine.
The edge is genuine.

It was 'made' like this >
One side was mostly hollowed out, but still leaving the rim.
A second coin was cannibalised and just the face was remaining -
the rim was cut off and the inside part was smoothed down thin.
That thin part was glued into the hollow area of the genuine coin.

The manipulation was almost ideal except that the inserted part is at a
slight angle. Look at the left edge of the first picture - the rim is too high.

A few minutes work to write a CNC program.
Actually two, one to mill out the hollow part, and one to cut off the insert.
then they can be made for pennies above face value, hundreds per day.
any mis-alignment is due to the assembly adhesive.
