Thanks to the wonderful new image search feature, I have determined that it is a 1 Tanka from the Sultanate of Bengal (if it's not this coin specifically, it is a least one that is similar). However, there is a small countermark on the obverse. Any ideas on the origin of the mark?

Not sure if this is right please verify… many a times coins made it to jewellery as pendant. The mountings can be different types and one type can leave a punch mark on coins if the coin is taken off the jewellery.
It is called a shroff mark or bankers mark and are very common feature of Bengal Sultanate coins.
Its not possible to tell what the mark on your coin represent or what its origin is due to lack of available information on these marks.
