This shouldn't exist according to Krause. Can you post the weight and diameter of the coin?
They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...

it is 28mm and 8.6g..thank you..it is not in the krause book...thank you.gary
It's not, and that makes me think it's a fake. The weight is off by 1.1 grams, which is quite a lot for a coin this light.

Hi. I agree I think its a fake. Just find it peculiar how they have put a date where none were produced. Cant find any other example such as this anywhere which makes it strange and unusual.

They must have thought that it could pose as extremely rare, thus extremely valuable for someone who isn't paying attention :)

I once read that using non-existent dates was protection from prosecution for counterfeiting. If the date matches a real coin it's a counterfeit, but if the date doesn't match a real coin it isn't counterfeit as it isn't a copy of a real coin.

(I don't remember the source. And if accurate the situation might only apply in certain countries at certain times as laws against counterfeiting vary from place to place and time to time.)
