This object does not resemble any United States coin dated 1808.

 With the ‘token’ in hand, what lettering can you see. I made this …

I can't identify other letters myself. I am now searching for anyone who knows the language to interpret what it says.

Based on nail width (highly subjective I understand) the coin is about 35mm in diameter.
