Hey all,

I bought a random coin lot online that had a couple of Venezuelan 2 Bolívares, and I'm having trouble identifying which variant this 1989 is.

The existing Numista page has visual reference for two types:

What's weird about mine is:

Any thoughts on this are welcome! I'm very confused.

Looks like this one to me:

I take it back, I'll keep looking.  What's the diameter and weight?

I followed some links I found on older posts (forgot I could search there first) and found this https://www.numismatica.info.ve/en/coins/mv2bs-cb01.htm

Diameter appears to be about 23mm (my smallest measuring tool is made of crappy plastic though so that has a margin of error), and weight is 7.5g / 0.26oz / 0.24 ozt / 4.8 dwt

It's one of my favorite varieties, so please give us the images of YOUR coin. Without, your statements are not supported adequately.

I found this in my notes, if that helps any further:

The tail of the horse is definitely completely different.

Here are the 4 horses now in my “possession”. The short tailed in 3 parts  is yours!

You're right, that variant is NOT mentioned or I haven't found it yet.  Can I use your images to document it, or do you set up your own documentation?

Oh neat! Yes, you may. Is this a coin you would recommend getting variant graded for? Not sure if the companies care very much about variants on non-usa currency.

Thanks, a very interesting variant, I'll have a closer look at it tomorrow, to see if I can figure out, where it was minted.

I never spend anything on grading, I simply do not go for it, so I have absolutely no idea.

This reminds me of a post a while back where the differences in the shield were because of the different mints that made the coins.  Give me some time to dig up that post.

Edit:  Found it:  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic110181.html

As you can see, I have been busy since yesterday.

At last I think I have found the Werdohl coin, thanks to $and€r (WoC = World of Coins) , so now I have the four variants together in my documentation?

I still have my doubts about the Caracas & the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) variants, not sure which is which, hence I would very much appreciate your comments.

Thanks for your support.

PS. I kind of put this in another context in another thread, which I'll try to cancel now.

Looks great! I can see you used the versions of my photos with the red bounding boxes though. Here's the original versions of the images I used for measuring.
