I have a coin Free City of Goslar 6 Pfennig KM#78 dated 1729. This vintage is not mentioned in Krause or Numista. Is this coin rare or may this be unauthentic. The coin has patina looks authentic.

Best regards

Hello, without good pictures we can't do much that would be useful.

1728.

Could be but we would need better images of the lower part of the 8/9. Another 1728 does look a bit different but that doesn't have to mean much in the hand carved die era.

I retract my hypothesis.

Looking at other Goslar coins dated 1728, I do not see any 8's that would look like this one with a bit worn away.

It's a small sample, but it looks like there was consistency in the formation of 8, as well as uniformity in the height of the numerals.

The coin is Schön DM# 12, and Schön DM lists 1729 as a year. (5th edition, page 414.)

Numista currently lists 1729 as a year.

Thank you all very much, for your contribution to solve this case.

Kind regards
