Allow online shops in the Outings section

Hello,

I have been discussing adding a new type of outing with Xavier, some sort of online shop. I think this is a good idea as nowadays most of us buy more coins online rather then by going to shops. This would be a good way to support smaller dealers. Please vote your opinion on the topic!

Thanks,

There are

  • physical shops,
  • online shops and
  • shops with website and physical premises.

I think can be used the current record of shop. Now, there are fields “Website” and “Location” (“Address” + “City” + “Country” + “State  / Region”). Can be added other field “Type of shop” with options: “Physical”, “Online”, “Physical and online”.

Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

Sounds like a great idea, but it could become a challenge to only add trustworthy shops.

What about a way to rate the shops or add comments much like we do on trades? That should solve problems with unreputable businesses

Yes. The page would remain almost the same and the ability to rate shops would still be available.

My post clearly shows that I have not looked at the Outings (have now).

Most definitely leaped before Iooked.

Hello,

I feel that we already struggle about listing physical shops. Do we really want to also list online sellers? There are probably many more online sellers than physical shops.

It also raises several questions:

  • What would be the conditions to be listed? Should we accept any eBay seller with at least one coin in their inventory? I guess we should include online auction houses.
  • The numerous online shops would quickly flood the Outings section. Should we list them separately?
  • The current sort options are quite helpless for online shops. Probably we should add more information, like the category of coins (or objects) being sold, for example US coins, graded coins, ancient Greek coins, German exonumia, etc.
  • We should be careful about not listing the same shop multiple times: the same company may have a physical shop, an online shop website, an eBay shop, etc.

Hello,

I think ebay sellers should not be accepted. I think there must be a guideline of sort that the seller is required to have their own website, eg. coinshop.eu, isellcoins.co.uk and so on.

That is true, but that could be fixed by them not displaying together with other outings.

Yes, that is very true, but what if we made that in the description or a form of tag? eg. #US or #AncientGreek?

If they have a physical shop then the website is linked to that, and ebay shops we be completely ignored, as they are now.

Thanks,
