Hello all!

Can you please help me identify the version of this coin?

In the page there are three control numbers on the reverse, but any of those seems to be like mine.

N#66102

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Gonçalo

Hello!

I own one of these too and noticed this. I feel it is wrong too. There are over 200 control marks for this type and that is too much for the numista page. It would be better to change it to 382/1a and 382/1b.

For now I suggest picking one of them and then adding a comment to let people know the real control mark.

Yes, this is my cat

Hello,

I hope it is authentic, but I seriously doubt it — polished surface, thick edge, etc. Is it even silver?

I will post a link on the French side and see what they say…

Here is your photo of the edge as posted in the new acquisition thread:

I see no reason to doubt authenticity. It was probably just cleaned at some point

Here is a photo of the edge of my coin and it is the same thickness

It also has flow lines coming from the design elements which show that it was struck with a hammer and die

Yes, this is my cat

Here is also a link to a die study of republican denarii.

It is the same control mark, 212 and you can see the numerals curve, and you can compare other design elements. I would say that it is a real coin struck with this die.

I noticed the stress marks, which is a good sign, but you sometimes see them on forgeries.

Just for info, here's a coin that went for over CAD $300 a few months back. I had doubts about its authenticity, and one of the points that was made by one of our Numista specialists is the lack of stress lines.

As for the thickness, it's good to know that this is normal. I guess I never saw a picture of the edge of such coins before.

But the general appearance bothers me. It's not just cleaned; it's been polished, even on the edge.
