It is definitely 1223.

Mint name looks like Misr - Egypt.

You're right! Sorry.

I think he already knows the year.  He needs identification of the coin.

Yes , 1223 Egypt but like the OP, I could not explain or account for the obverse having no toughra or denomination but does have an unfamiliar design. Weight is right but diameter is off in the attached link which is very similar to this reverse with regnal year dating it 1836. Both sides of the OP's coin has the addition of what could be a wheat stalk. I could find nothing matching the OP's coin.

I'm starting to think it's a token.

But the mint is not Cairo (which is what مصر actually means on coins). Because they have not added the diacritics, the final letter could be any of ق or ن or even ي, but there is no mint in Krause that seems to correspond. The first letter could be م or ص or ض.

EDIT: Or else a clumsy rendering of جزائر i.e. Algiers??

So I am pretty sure its not Egypt, 95% its طرابلس which is Libya, check this out in 20 Para - Mahmud II type D/E , however I'm still searching for the other side.

Libya
your coin is the same as Zeno

I mean, the EXACT same
https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=308874

Actually the same picture

Apparently during the years 1711 to 1835 Karamanli dynasty took over, , may be that's the reason why there is no tughra with the name of Mahmoud II

OP's coin is 23mm. Zeno 28mm.

harryg

OP's coin is 23mm. Zeno 28mm.

Then some information is wrong.

It is the exact same picture.

Same shadow, same micro errors, same everything
