#1- MY coin! one of my favourite coins of all time, wish I had a toned one. LOVE the obverse and the simple Canadian design of the canoe

2.

Much rarer, much less beatiful and probably worth much less than the very nice Dollar. I wouldn't turn my nose up at either one.

I've never been camping with George V though.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

#1 for the obverse. One of the greatest depictions of a king or queen ever in my opinion.

I think he looks taller and thinner on the 1936 effigy.

That's cause both effigies were designed by different engravers.

George V on this dollar coin was designed by Percy Metcalfe, as with many other British commemoratives as well as Fijian and New Zealand coins, and the other by Edgar Bertram MacKennal.

WHAT! I have to choose between these two?  I Want one of #1 SO bad, but #2 has deep history far deeper than you realize, #2 lead me to read for days and days about central American history. A bloody and complicated history going WAY back (for the Americas anyway)

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
1, I love this canoe, it reminds me of our Great Lakes (L’Étoile du Nord, hail to thee!)
No. 1, nice portrait of the king, interesting reverse and better condition.

It has been corrected. Thank you!
