Judea- 1 Pruta

VS
Indian Native States- Bikaner- Ganga Singh/Victoria
#1  Victoria just isn't doing it for me in this one.
I hate the look of number 2 and I don't know what number 1 is. Can I get a link to some kind of info on 1?
2  Victoria had her head on so many coins I can't keep up - this just shows ANOTHER variety of British Indian coins ! I also have an Alwar state rupee too..

Sorry, there is no Numista page. Ask eminem about it if you want to know.

Ok, 8mile, is that a Catholic Crusades chalice and a Canadian maple leaf? 8~
Looks like a branch to me :)
Ok guys, Number one is my vote, and here is some info on the coin:
It is a bronze prutah from the year 67-68 AD, made in year two of the first revolt of the Jews against the Romans. It was used and later dug up in Masada, an ancient Jewish fortress in Israel, on top of the mountain. It's actually an awesome place (I've been there).

Read about Masada (it's interesting): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masada

Anyways I think it's an ugly coin, but full of history.

The coin has a vine leaf branch on one side, and an 'amphorah' jug on the other side. One side says "freedom of zion"

I'm convinced I have lived previously during the days of the Raj.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

Thank you for clarifying this coin. You are so lucky, I have never been to Israel.  :(
#2, I don't see any likeability in that Judean coin.

#1, so much history, did you dig it up yourself?
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
1 because it's ancient
2

#2 the history of coin 1 one made me consider it but I just can't get past the condition.
2, just not a massive fan of Israeli coins.

No, I wish. I did take part of an archeological dig somewhere else though (hoping to find coins) but all I found was 3000 year old pottery, nails and metal. Still fun though. I bought the coin from a apparently reputable coin shop and it came with a certificate of authenticity.

The best ancient coin place was in neighbouring Jordan (in Petra) where I bought 4 ancient coins for $40, and I got them evaluated by an ancients dealer who said they were worth $50-$100 a piece

Petra is at the very top of my "places still to see" list.

Its absolutely fabulous! Even after being in Israel for weeks before I was completely blown away. But now you can justify going-- knowing that they sell ancient coins for cheap, you could profit  :P

Apparently they find the coins in the sand after the three times of the year that it rains

No. 2, for exotic country.
