South Africa- 6 Pence- George VI

VS
Sierra Leone Company- 1 Cent
1, again Waka Waka
#1 for condition. I would have liked for my 1/2 cent to have faced off with #2. It would have been a nice competition.
Number 2, not only for the fact it's scarce but what Sierra Leone and the company stood for - pioneering the way for the freedom of slaves and also the first colony adopting the decimal system.

ALSO SEE THE LINKS FOR BETTER PICTURE OF THE COIN..I believe that voting on the coin in the actual picture is wrong - it's the most popular coin contest, not that specific coin ! I will give that the coin pic is the same one but it's easily available here in better condition !

Sorry, but the condition plays a huge part!

It might. If they both win, that is!

It might. If this wins, that is (unless yours didn't).

Why are you adding links for the catalogue then ? You're wasting your time if it's that particular coin pictured that we're voting on ? I really thought it was that run of coin :S
There is a lion on that coin? Good to know.
Yeah it's worn but the pics make it look worse ! Sierra Leone means mountain lion.
The 6 pence is mine and in terms of our two coins I think mine is far nicer with the toning and such, but if Mark's coin was in the same condition as mine I would probably say #2. That is my vote.

I have several SA tanners but I've never seen the Sierra Leone coin. Now, I want one.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

A huge part, not everything!
Phil if/ when I upgrade its yours :) I paid £13 for this one delivered, not a bad price considering the scarcity :)
#2 because it is old and scarce
#2 but mostly for the stuff that we actually can't see on this particular sample.
After looking at Mark's link I love the black and white shaking had depicted, the lion however is so poorly engraved. I never really liked the reverse of the South Africa coins, the six bundles just don't make a good design.

  Going with #2
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
1 I like the way of showing the denomination

#1 mainly for the condition.
1, I like these coins, I like the idea of the 6 sticks and the 3 on the 3d.

You are too kind my dear chap. I'm happy to share a love of these worn out old coins with you.

If anyone ever has any dirty, worn out, unattractive, unloved pre-1800 copper coins they can't wait to get rid of, I have lots of modern shiny SILVER!!!!! coins to exchange for them.

Ya snooze, ya loose! I really want an example of this coin, and I have not seen it for sale yet (except at today's coin show. Price: $550!  :8D Grade: AU. Do I really need that coin?).  :( Good luck to you, Phil, anyway!

Yes, a bidding war! That is what I want to see (with a low ending price and me as winner, of course!)!
