Hey all!

I am new to this

Bought this coin yesterday and the slip that came with it says that it is from the reign of Constantine the 2nd (337 - 340 AD)

I may have been at this too long, but i am having a tough time determining which coin it is, exactly.

Can anyone help?

thanks a lot!

Pictures are blurry

Wording should be:

CONSTANTI-NVS MAX AVG
GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS

Referee of south atlantic islands

thanks for the reply. Here is a clearer picture of the Reverse

I purchased this coin over the weekend and the slip that came with it said that is was minted between 337-340 AD by Constantine the Second.

However I am having trouble exactly identifying which one it is (where it was minted etc). The reverse has two soldiers and in between them one standard. Many coins are listed like that on Numista but none look exactly like mine (in some the soldier is shorter than the standard, or other small differences)

please help me identify the mint mark. Is it SMNS?

thanks!

Yes, the mint mark is SMNS = Nicomedia. 😃

Thank you if possible can you provide the Numista link to which coin it is?

Yes but first please take better photos of the obverse so we can read the legend. Are you sure it's Constatinus II? It could just as easily be Constantinus I or someone else from the dynasty. Without better photos it's just guessing.

Apologies for late reply.

Here are three pictures of the obverse. The clearest I could take:

And I am not sure it's Constantine II. That is what it was identified as at the store but who knows

When taking photos of coins hold your phone still and make sure to set your phones focus on the coin. These photos are again very blurry and the legend is unreadable. My guess is that it's Constantine the Great, not Constantine II but without being able to read the legend this is just guessing.

The last S in the mint mark could be a Γ which would make it this coin: N#76246 but again, without clear photos of the obverse this is just guessing.
