Due to the low mintage (40000), the value will be higher than the preceding years. I would say $90 (F) to $125 (VF).
1 coin company and 2 numista persons here in sweden have told me after alot of Photos and videos mailed 01 in the swedish scale
after they have inspekted the coin (01=EF)
Should i send it to grading company like NGC?
So maby they can clean the dirty and dont hurt the patina…
To get a final standing grad and get it slabbed to protect it…
Or is it a waste of money on a coin like this?
New to coins sorry for all the noob questions
Looks very nice. If it were mine, I would not be unhappy with the dirt.
Certification by NGC is expensive, and they will not clean it.
edit to add: I believe it has already been cleaned - and if so NGC will grade it with CLEANED , which will defeat any value you could add to it by sending to them.
Better photos in natural light would be helpful in better assessing actual grade and value. Other than the obvious details of the harp etc , when blowing up these photos, the fields look quite unattractive, grainy, pitted, lacks any luster, and takes away from the potential eye appeal. This coin has definitely been cleaned.

Did leav it at auctionhousehere in sweden That have a really really good coin expert
That going to me a fair grader and a price
Here are some actual sales results:
- This one is certainly lower grade and lower eye appeal than yours (sold for 120 eu): https://www.numisbids.com/n.php?lot=7304&p=lot&sid=5790
- This one graded at PCGS XF 45 is also more worn than yours, (sold in a lot of 2 for $220 before buyer premium): https://coins.ha.com/itm/ireland/world-coins/ireland-free-state-pair-of-certified-1-2-crowns-1937-xf45-pcgs-total-2-coins-/a/232121-64481.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
- This graded PCGS AU 55 (sold for $200 in 2019): https://www.numisbids.com/n.php?lot=2120&p=lot&sid=2934
- In my opinion, this one may be closest to the condition of your coin, though it “straight graded” (no issues with cleaning, etc. Sold for $300): https://coins.ha.com/itm/ireland/ireland-free-state-1-2-crown-1937-au50-pcgs-/a/232124-63547.s?ic16=ViewItem-Auction-Archive-PreviousPricesHeritage-081514
It is consistent with the opinion of your local expert, as European grading is generally more strict than the U.S. graders.
Good luck with an auction sale!
The 1937 ½ Crown is one of the ones that eludes me, along with the ones dated 1930, 1934 - & of, course, 1943, which IS THE rarest one in the 1928 to 1967 ½ Crown series.
Aidan.
