Found Roman Coin

Hi, I have recently found a Roman coin which I suspect is Follis - Valentinianus I, but I am not 100% sure as some of its details doesn’t seem to match completely the examples I was able to find. Sorry for not having better pictures my camera on my phone is broken. I had to take pictures with an older phone. Would someone please be able to give me more details about this coin? I will try to get better pictures as soon as possible. Thanks

Valens not valentinianus

Hi, is it just correct variant of the name or is it different emperor altogether please? Do you have more details for example which period is it from. Which possible material etc. I was guessing bronze. Thanks

Valens DN VALENS PF AVG, pearl diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right. / GLORIA ROMANORVM, emperor walking right, holding labarum and dragging a captive behind him. Siscia Mint, RIC IX IX 5b. There are also subvariants within RIC IX IX 5b, search for RIC IX IX 5b on WildWinds and try to match yours to the exact subvariant: https://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/valens/t.html

To answer the rest of your questions: Valens and Valentinianus are different emperors, the coins is from the 4th century and the material is bronze.

On a sidenote when asking for identification take better photos and remove the coin from the holder. The legend has to be readable for identification, especially on ancient coins where multiple emperors used the same design and usually a single letter can completely change the result. If Alexius73 didn't write it was Valens I wouldn't have even bothered identifying anything off such photos.

I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.

Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.
