Portugal 100 escudos ouro 1941

Hi everyone! I'm a coin & banknote collector from Mexico. I have this 1941 100 escudos note that I can't seem to find on Numista's banknote database (I already sent it for revision). Do you have any idea of its scarcity / value?  Thanks!

The signatures on your note are not even documented on banknote museum. Unless others have undocumented copies of the signature set you have, you may have something quite scarce. Even in the condition it’s in, it’s worth a minimum US$50 easily. Nice note to have.

Hi Blue, appreciate the time you took to answer. Nice observation on the signatures, hopefully someone will have additional information. Thanks!

That's because no member of Numista has entered your 100 Escudos note from Portugal.  According to BNM it is P-150  & as @blue-m points out, yours has the Carlos de Barros Soares Branco & João Emaúz Leite Ribeiro signatures (which has yet to be added on the BNM). The signature combo exists on the P-151(3) 500 Escudos & the BNM is not an exhaustive list so not all the many signature combos employed by the central  bank are listed on the BNM.

I used your note's P-code on ebay & got a few P-150 100 Escudos notes were listed here.  The note you posted looks to be in Fine to VF20 condition (with 2 vertical edge tears).  The tears can detract from the price but I would guess about $100-$150 depending on the buyer.

BTW: nice note & you can enter it on Numista if you wish.

Hi Serial_Number_8 Thank you for the detailed explanation and the link, it was of great help.

I already entered the note so the database is more complete :)

According to the Colnect website, your banknote is not actually listed, but seven similar banknotes are.

The signature on your banknote is not listed.

The catalogue numbers that are listed are P150a.2-P150a.8

I therefore believe that your banknote is P150a.1

All of the banknotes have the same date, but different signature combinations.

Thanks for you help Coinman1

I hope the information was useful to you.

If you click on “click to see variants”, you can see the seven banknotes listed, with their different signatures.

I do not have this banknote in my collection.
