Volkswagen Factory Pin Information

Hey All,

I've had this since I was younger, and I wanted to ask if anyone knew where I could find more information on the estimated production numbers, variants, etc. for these. These aren't uncommon, and come up quite frequently on militaria sites, but I haven't had much luck on resources for their background. I'd like to add it to the exonumia catalogue, but would prefer a couple of references for that.

PS - Shouldn't have to say this, but I do not endorse the ideology symbolized by this pin, and prefer to keep it solely because it is an interesting, historically representative piece.

If you translate the words on the front you'll know what it was for.  I just did a google image search and found more hits than I could count.  Shouldn't be hard getting more information.

One question - why do you think this belongs in Exonumia?

As far as I'm aware, this is a pin/medal, so I thought it might belong in this section. I can understand though if maybe this isn't really a fit.
