Is it intentional that the general search field doesn't include tag names?

The overview of search says that the search query field is used to “Search for any word describing the item”, and it seems to me that the tags for an item describe the item.

But when I make a general search for “shell” it doesn't return all of the items with the Shell tag.

For example, Austrian 3 Euro coins:

Is this an intention restriction on general search? It seems counterintuitive to me.

All sea shell

Could you explain this post?

neral search for “shell” it doesn't return all of the items with the Shell tag.

For example, Austrian 3 Euro coins:

You find 1 or 3, there are 360, with or without quotes, empty or full
770 in exonumia. including 250 with Letterin gSHELL
check your positioning at the bottom

BOINC

I was trying to make a small test case to explain the issue. Comparing two lists of hundreds of coins to see the differences is a pain.

As I said in my original message, and you quoted, my example searches were only for 3 Euro coins of Austria.

Your post featured an example search
You should find 43   3 Euro coins including 26 from Austria
it fits on one page
The creation of tag-names is not automatic, it is done visually

Maybe I should remove the searches from my post. I'm not particularly interested in 3 Euro coins from Austria, or shells for that matter. And my question isn't about tag creation. Whether a particular tag does or doesn't exist or does or doesn't currently appear on a particular item is also irrelevant.

What I am interested in:

  • When I perform a general search on Numista the site appears to ignore the tags on items. Is this intentional?

Yes (I guess).

The tags are language independent values (you see the tag name in your interface language).

For find items with a tag you must use the filter “Tag”.

If you search “Shell” in the general search field, the system returns items with the text “shell” in some fields of text (e.g. obverse/reverse description, reference number, title) but the field “Tag” is not reviewed.

Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

I found this old “suggestion”.

It is not really a suggestion, but an answered question (I suppose). The  “suggesting an idea to improve Numista” option should be unchecked because this increases the number of pending suggestions.
