Danish token as countermarked Swedish coinage

2 berichten • 51 keer bekeken

Hi

I own this Swedish coin (5 ore 1875) that bears a countermark on obverse.

63 appears twice, and has been punched in as the reverse bears the corresponding flatten areas.

I have found out that sometimes at the time, Swedish coins were used as advertisement tokens in Denmark after having been countermarked. The Danes would not use Danish coins as it was prohibited to denature local coinage.

The question here is what does this 63 stand for and who issued this token?

thanks in advance for your answers
