Ort Koronny 1623. Sig. Waza. Place in Numista cat. [opgelost]

6 berichten • 121 keer bekeken

Dear friends, recently got this lovely ort on the flea m.

I dont have  doubts in genuinity, but weigjt is 6,28  ( numista indicates 6,7). So, is there a chance  I bought a fake coin ?

Also, there is  a big difference in  coin design between my one and one, shown in NCat.

This is my coin

And, this is  what Ncat show.

Does it mean that my coin is   just the  year 1623 under this image,  or we miss this type of ort?

Regards

David

David,

Hammered coins will always vary slightly in weight.

This coin from Danzig looks genuine to me.

Congratulation! Yes, authentic.

“Koronny” in our catalog title for a Polish coin refers only to the crown mints (Krakow, Bydgoszcz, Poznan, Wschowa and much later Warszawa), and not to “city” mints like Gdansk, differentiated by the city coat of arms or similar insignia reverse.
