I recently got this in a lot of coins from eBay. I'm not sure if it's a coin that's been filed and countermarked, or if it was a token. One side shows a man in ~19th century military dress with long hair. The other side has the number 51 stamped into it, but there are traces of some earlier design. I can make out what looks like a letter N and an O or C. Diameter approx. 3cm, brassy metal.
Reverse image search has given me nothing even remotely similar, either in the catalogue or on the Web. I had a look at portraits and medallions of likely people (I thought maybe one of the Napoleons or maybe Nelson) but the face and hair don't seem to match any portraits I can find. Anybody have any idea who this man is, or what this item is?
