Roughly 20 cent (EUR/USD)

Have a nice day.

Value and the ability to get a coin from a seller are two different things.

The coin is 55 years old and thus already belongs among antiques -it concerns antiquities import and export laws.

Our assessment in cents is perverted and only between us in shifts - we underestimate common coins and we are doing ourselves a disservice we devalue ourselves.

Example of sale: ( but you could also find this yourself)

about 2 dollars

less than a dollar

No one should be selling any old invalid coins that are on the market for less than $1 -and that should be the basic value of all antique coins - even this French beauty.

It's an antique and let's treat it that way.

If you live near a coin dealer in the U.S. who has a foreign coin bin, you might find French francs like this for 20 or 25 cents, as pointed out by 53th0s.  Maybe brought to the U.S. by a college student after a semester in France in the 1970s, or a tourist.  I certainly have some francs in a bag from days as a student there.

But I like Ivan's attitude much better 😃

Yeah, hard to argue with that. Just in terms of expectations for selling, 1$ already implies a good bit of luck in finding a buyer …

We have other vendors - we don't have street vendors. We don't have baskets in rooms, but brick-and-mortar stores and auction halls, as well as sales websites.

An example is the best advisor: I won't buy one US cent cheaper -look at the prices and the dollar today is -1$ equals-all cents are worth over a dollar

I guess we have something to learn from entrepreneurs across the big pond? Selling antiques for pennies?

Is something antique and made in the billions really worth more just because it no longer circulates? The US has 5¢ coins from the 40s that are still common to find in change. Buying cheap coins in Europe was an eye opener; low value coins in buckets were extremely overvalued, yet large attractive and truly antique 18-19th century coins were sold at very fair value. Why would I spend 20 euro on 20-30 coins that have little value (maybe $3 in the US for them all) when I can get an attractive uncommon silver piece for my collection? How much are these stores paying for such common bucket coins; are they running away with a giant profit on individual collectors? When very common coins have such inflated values, I fear people lose interest in collecting. We cannot devalue coins or coin collecting, but we must not overvalue coins that everyone has / no one wants.

In Croatia these coins also go for around 20 cents each. Even less if bought in bulk. That is if you can find a buyer. I see a lot of these coins offered on a local auction house for around 1 euro but those are there for months if not years constantly renewed since no one is buying them at that price. Pretty irritating in my opinion since the auction house is flooded with them and you have to browse pages and pages in order to find a coin that's actually interesting.

I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.

I hate German eBay for this the minimum is 1 euro (I think some European versions could start at 1 or 5 cents, at least a few years ago). And no, I won't pay a euro for a common 1 yen coin. But maybe I would pay about 20 or 30 for a nice more uncommon specimen … but no, it's one euro, a lot with stuff I am not interested in or pass.
