Not a coin.  Exonomia. Gemeinde von Schwangau is a town in the south of Germany.

You have a souvenir  token from that place.

Looks late 20th century. Anything stamped on the edge?

No, nothing

no? well, without makers mark there is little to google on. you can do that as well as I.

My wife and I traveled in Germany in the 80s.

we stopped at well, a number of tiny, adorable brick-a-brack shops, and we have to this day numerous small mementos from then.

So maybe these were made on spec, and sold in souvenir shops and museums.

Another possibility, if you completed a volksmarch, you would get a prize. Though I never went on one, I knew people who did.

Possibly other events or activities might have netted a medal to participants.

Speculating.

Nice item. handsome engraving.

Your pictures are good. you are welcome to add it to our exonomia catalog

I would call that a tourist souvenir from Germany. there are hundreds already in there.  17 with the word Bayern on them.

The castle is “Neuschwanstein”, look it up on wikipedia.
