New Brunswick 1862 20 cents

7 berichten • 100 keer bekeken

Had a delivery of coins from an auction, 500 grams of pre 1920 UK silver coins, and amongst them I found a New Brunswick 1862 20 cent coin. Checked it out, and it looks like I could be lucky. I have taken a couple of pictures to see if anyone can say what grade it would be (roughly)?

Hey,  it's an 1862.  Maybe VF?

Thanks, fat fingers, already altered it from 1992, so edited again.

Nice score!  I'm not the best at grading coins either.  Fine at lowest.  There are still some fine details visible in the leaves and crown on the reverse.  The obverse is missing quite a bit of detail in the hair and wreath though.
Definitely need more people to chime in with such a significant difference in value between F and VF.

VF-, I reckon

Yes, VF- or aVF ("almost/about VF").

On the coin page there is a VF graded one from a Katz Auction and it is barely better than this one.

HI - great find! I would grade it F/VF.
