Hello,
I have this pretty worn coin and need to ID ruler.

Maybe Piotr II with a retrograde obverse legend (SIMPETRIWOIWO) starting with that S. I think the letters that we can see (SIMP …. VO) might fit.
I see finish to S, start with U or O…. On your example S is after the cross (that is asterisk on my coin, not cross)
Or, possibly, asterisk doesn't divide start and end of the inscription
Legend is written backward starting with S.🙃
Oh, I didn't correctly understand the English word retrograde in your message despite using it today when editing other coin in Numista catalogue:)
Do you know other examples of retrograde legends on Moldovan coins? Is it common?
I first looked in the WCN archive for a Moldavia coin with an S obverse, and noticed them on Piotr's coins, which appear to not be very common. None were retrograde like yours.
I also just looked on acsearch, where there were 4 of Piotr's coins in a 2021 auction. Again, none were retrograde. I also noticed from these that the crescent and flower at the bull's mouth are in the opposite orientation (left/right) on yours, so it is a complete “mirror image” (everything is flipped).
Also different on your coin is the flower obverse at 12:00 in place of the normal cross.
It looks like Peter I Mușat and the legend it's

Here you have a better sample to compare with a slightly different legend.

These coins have many variants even some catalogued variants with legends reversed.
Looks like a pefect match (including the flower).
