Welcome to Numista!
It's a large date.
How can you tell
Is there any value and thanks for the welcome
1. It's a bronze (copper/zinc) coin (shown by weight) minted in Denver (KM# 201). For 1982D only large dates were produced in bronze (except for only a couple). The 1982D in copper plated zinc (KM# 201a) were minted in both large and small date.
2. On both coin pages there's a graphic showing the difference between large and small date.
I don't think it's worth more than a penny.

For me the easiest way to tell the difference is to look at the top of the eight. The top of the eight for large date the circle is large. Were for small date the top of the eight is small.
Large date is on the left. Small date on the right.

Large date is on the right. Small date on the left.
Large date is on the left. Small date on the right.
Opps. Thank you rsirian1, trying to do everything at once, getting ready for the week ahead.

For me the easiest way to tell the difference is the shape of the “2”. The connection between bottom and top is straight for the large date and the small date has a bend.
But of course the size of the upper whole in the “8” is also a very good indicator.
