Hi!

How can I see the difference between the Llantrisant Mint and the Philadelphia Mint?

Thanks for any help.

Ben

Hello 🤖

Without pictures, it will be very difficult for anyone to help you. Could you please post clear pictures of each side of your item?

There are some differences :

There are some differences :

Which is which?

That's the question, but not the same song …

So lets compare to the The Franklin Mint

Wawa is closed to philidelphia and the right coin is the closest to the central coin (for ex. size of inner letters)

Here is what I have been able to figure out, the 1975 FM coin I didn't find in any worthwhile sharp image, so I have only compared the two slightly different types supplied by Frenchlover, although I substituted the right coin with the coin from my collection to get a HI-RES image.

Since I'm a pessimist, I believe my coin is the common coin minted in the US, but of course I might be wrong.

If we believe my coin is a common one and assign it to US year line, time will tell if I'm right, by the percentages showing up on the two year lines.

Today it seems people have been able to put most of the 1975 coins into the US year line. I put mine in there because of the chance 10:1!

Shall I make a CR with this as basis, or do you have other comments to be taken into consideration?

Can you compare to 1977 or 1978 which we know was made in Llantrisant?

How do you know that?

US Mints did not make any Philippine coins after the 1976 ones.

Note that the year is calendar year. Year 1976 if for coins with a 1975 date and year 1977 is for coins with a 1976 date. US Mint made no coins with a 1977 or 1978 date.

Here is the 1977, the 1978 I can only download tomorrow (limits of downloads per day with this: https://pixlr.com/fr/remove-background/

so the Ll.

my guessed US 1975

the 1977 (looking like my guessed US, not Ll)

Tomorrow I'll try to get this 1978 (maybe you can do the manipulations as well?)

Have fun

Ole

In the end then, it's only the 1978, which would be Llantrisant?

The conclusion would be what?

I was waiting for you to tell us.  : )

I haven't seen anything that would make me sure how to tell which mint made the 1975 and 1976 coins without an FM mint mark.

The 1978 macro, I made from my image of my 1978 coin:

The bags behind the heel like the 1975 Llantrisant, so my guess was good?

Comments, please

Which heel? Not sure what you are calling the bags.

And you said the 1977 looks like the 1975 US (your guess) but we know the 1977 was not made in Philadelphia mint.

Can you post the close-up pictures with captions for year/your guess of mints so we're all talking about the same thing, like this:

1975 Llantrisant,

Numismatic Philippines might know the difference (they post two different coins) 😜

I ask him the question.

Referee of south atlantic islands

They also identify the 1977 and 1978 no mint mark as being made in BSP (not Llantrisant) which Numista doesn't have.
